Some more info on the 210 bolt shotgun and developement.
Got a couple extra bolt heads coming. They are same as in
the 12 ga I show in the picture. Posting pic for those who may not have seen it.Bolt heads are only 19 bucks each.We will be able to put guide edge on the bolt head for cases smaller than 12 ga, to keep case rim centered.

With interchangable bolt heads being that cheap, you may have to make this a switch barrel and do 600NE or similar?

Lar-it sure has possibilities. But with whole guns being
an economical price, just set up a bunch of different calibered guns. The 210 12 ga come with a barrel that screws in like other Savages with a set nut, with a diameter of 1.115 inches, same as the thread size. But I am going to get a larger diameter one and set it up with a regular shoulder to abut up to action, and match action diameter, for the 12GA FH. The extra heads are to experiment with and have
one head to fit rim of BMG and 600 NE(one size fits both),
and a head to fit 577NE.And then will look for bargains on a couple extra guns.If anyone wants a 210 plastic stock,
24 inch rifled 12 ga slug barrel(with barrel nut), mag
follower and spring(mag is in stock)-- I will sell these all
for 150 bucks.Plus shipping. All new. If you have smoothbore turkey model 210, you could change over for slug deer hunting.Ed.

Ed,

Since all you effectively need is a locating ring added to the face of the bolt head, can you not just tin one one? It carries no load, or at least it had better not be carrying load!

Seems as though this Savage will be a rather straight forward and relatively easy way to build big bore rifles up to 12 bore. Keep us informed of your progress.

My resident super welding guy will put them on.It is just three spots around bolt that have to be built up, and then
I will size with lathe. And put on heavier extractor.
All of you need to get next to one and work the bolt, whether you buy one or not. With that bolt carrier setup it is the smoothest operating big bore there ever was.I tried
binding it by pushing sideways while opening it and it still
was smooth.Ed.

WE got action and regular barrel inleted into an old
heavy Savage stock made out of swamp maple, that is about 5lbs wt. Changed the bolt stop and got .9 inches extra bolt travel. Opened port to match for length. Here is a picture with a 600 OK shell, 3.9 in OAL, in action to
show how big and how much room is there. And we can get a little more. The bottom can be opened little longer than that
for a long box, to make repeater from 600 NE,577 NE,600 OK,
500NE,550 Mag, etc.Could make repeater with 700 NE if you
don't load bullet out to far in its 3.5 in case..The shotgun follower that is with gun will work to make a single stack mag for these cases. I like single stack mag for strength reasons, as it allows us to keep sides of stock
thicker for strength to hold recoil without splitting.

For my 12GA FH testing I will
use full length case and do it single shot, when heavy barrel gets here.Ed.

never thought I would see anything swallow a 600 OK and still have room to talk around it...

looks like the beast for a 500 NE, 470NE 577 NE switch barrel?

..

WoW, I just couldn't imagine... a 577 nitro on a 10# bolt gun

Jeffe--I would make it heavier than ten lbs.In my case,
for testing and load developement in the 12ga FH, it will be about 23-25 lbs. With the heavy stock and action, as in picture it's over 10 lbs now.Add a 10 lb barrel and 5 lbs
of lead and it will be manageable.Nice thing is even with
rear bridge shortened to open port that bolt carrier still works smooth and easy.Have already got lugs lapped, took 4 min, and will put 4th bearing lug on bolt handle,Ed
