Hi, I'm planning to buy something bigger than my current 2 300WM rifles, but my budget is limited; so, what would you prefer, for overall quality, between CZ and Zastava? Thanks.

I have a CZ .375 and am very happy with it. AFter I fired and fed several hundred rounds, the action is very smooth.
Had a brockman stock installed on it. the gun will shoot under 1/2" groups 3 shots when I do my part. It will shoot 3 of each NF 300 gr softs, cup point solids and flat point solids into same ragged hole at 100 yards@ 2600 fps.

I vote for the Zastava. A trimmer package. The old Whitworths were very nice for their price range.

If you plan to carry it hunting the Zastava is the nicer package. If costs were equal the CZ is the better value, paticularly the "American" with its dual crossbolts, Express sights and straighter stock. The CZ550s in 300WM and 375H&H are too heavy in my opinion ... but perfect for the 416Rigby.
Tough call ... but expect both to require some 'smithing before being perfect.
Cheers...

Just yesterday afternoon a friend and I were shooting our big bores in preperation for an up comming cape buffalo hunt in Tanzania.
He was shooting a CZ 550 and I a Zastava both are in 458 WM caliber. His rifle is heavier than mine and his bolt slicker . But he has issues with rings on the milled receiver. Very few companies produce rings to replace the ugly CZ rings. His rings are Warne QD and the front ring just would not stay in the milled slot for anything we did to make it.
My rifle sold under the name Charles Daly shoots spot on with no issues. It just performs its function without bells an whistles day in and day out.

I have both, the Zastava is an earlier model whitworth express of 1982 and both the ZKK 602 and CZ 550 versions from CZ. Cannot tell you how the my whitworth shoots because I've never fired this one, but it does feed well. The CZ's feed and shoot very well. Personnally I do not like the new version from Zastava in in it's completed form but you could get a barreled action from them and install your own choice of stock and sights etc. Unless you can find an older model of the whitworth express I would go for the CZ in it's completed form or buy a barreled action from Zastava and do it your self- just an opinion of course. CZ has a new type of rings; they look very much like "US" rings now. I like them more ( aesthetically ) than the "old" style CZ rings.

Have them on my CZ 550 FS 9.3 x62.

I've owned 2 Zastava Whitworths in 375 and a Brno ZKK602. I prefer the Whitworth: lighter, trimmer, smoother.

I have a Whitworth. I looked at both and felt in a 375 the CZ was too large a package.

As usual just my $.02

Find a Whitworth, it is the right package for a .375.

I have a CZ550 Safari Magnum (hogsback stock) that I'm keen on. I have no real issues with it other than it's just a wee bit heavy. It is very accurate and doesn't kick me into the next day. It will stop a Nebraskan chargin' chipmunk any day of the week Wink.
