Feeding winnies in a lott
I have made quite a few Lott's, recamberings and from scratch, but have for some reason bewildered never tested how the Winnies feeds in a Lott. Shooting .458WinMags in a pinch have always been an argument for the .458Lott, but how well do they actually feed?

In Win M70's they will usually go, but in M98's it is very much hit or miss.

if the lott feeds correctly, the winmag should.. if shortcuts where taken on the lott, the winmag may dump the left side one.

Generally, if you make the same case feed a longer bullet, the shorter one works easy, but perhaps not the other way.

My two trusty .450 Ackleys on pre -64 win actions feed them upside down and even empty cases. But then again I know how to make them feed. Is that good enough?-Rob

Jorge,
Don't worry about it, my belief is that anyone that can only think of one way to spell a word is an idiot.

jwp: Thanks for the kind words, but unfortunately now one must add the word "used" to the flying planes part. I shot my last "wad" during OEF in 2002 Frowner jorge

Hello,
As for the feeding of 458 Win Mag. in my 458 Lott, Ruger 77 Magnum, they feed and eject OK, some resistance, but when rising out of the mag to meet the face of the bolt, sliding under extractor lip, there is a definite "click" not heard when feeding the Lott cartridges???? Mag will take four, but first and last more resistance than others, but does work with some effort. As for the function with the Lott rounds, absolutely flawless and smooth as silk and never touched the action in any way. Accuracy on the Lott is outstanding, and in the 1.5moa range for the Win. Mag version. I do not plan on shooting 458 Win Mags in the rifle, but if needed to do so, see no problem in doing so. Just my experience and sure others may have differing stories.
