That didn't take long, Mike you are correct. The 585 is one of PC's. Does anyone have the dimensions of the Nyati as I think PC's said his is shortened - measured 2.815"

Mike beat me to it. Try your luck at mine. There seem to be several different lengths for the 585 Nyati. I have seen everthing from 2.8" through 3" quoted. Scott

Quote: The standard Ross Seyfried .585 Nyati has a case length of 2.8 inches. There are various non-standard 3.0 inch versions as well, and I saw one at SCI that was halfway in between. There is also a .585 Van Horn and a Wells version, just to add to the confusion. And don't forget the guns that were build for .585 nyati with the rim turned down to the size of a .416 rigby rim (Yikes!). But to repeat, the standard .585 nyati has a 2.8 inch case length and a .640 rim diameter. Bertram makes unformed .585 nyati brass 3.0 inches long, so it must be run through a form/trim die and the excess sawed off. Of course, upon seeing that the cases are 3.0 inches long, it is tempting to consider chambering a rifle for the full length cartridge. But after you have fired the 2.8 inch version with a case full or powder, you will realize that there is no need for the additional case capacity and power since the 2.8 inch version produces more power than most people can handle anyway.

Thanks 500G PC's rim is 505Gibbs size, so it looks like it is the standard size Nyati. I have a nyati case at home that has not had the shoulder/neck formed will post dimensions.
