Can anyone tell me what the rim diameter is for these two cartridges? I think that AHR builds them on both the CZ action as well as the Granite Mountain action.

Dave,

It is .636". Same as .505 Gibbs

You're correct. 600 OK on both the CZ and the GMA and soon the MRC PH.

Guys,
What is the throat diameter officially? Had a look at a PTG reamer spec sheet and I swear its undersized compared to a 900gr Woodleigh which mikes at about 0.622". bewildered
Cheers...
Con
Just editing to add: I swear the PTG reamer drawing from memory is for a 0.6205" parallel throat to somehow accept what measures as a 0.622" projectile. Now some have used Woodleigh's ... do your measure under 0.622"?

Spec for throat is .6205 from PTG. as is my reamer. The Woodleigh bullets I have in stock measure .618 to .620 for both SN and FMJ. Maybe Woodleigh has some bullets oversize, though I've never had an issue with their bullet diameter. That's what happens when you try to convert from that metric shit to NORMAL measurements. I reckon your right and we'll do another measurement on the Woodleighs as they are nominally 0.620". Verniers may have taken a hit though. Still seems very tight for a big bore DG rifle ... but then you may need to do some varminting with it and need the utmost accuracy? hilbily
Cheers...

All is well ... Woodleigh 0.622" at the heel, but 0.618" infront of cannelure.
Cheers...

Wayne

Con and I measured the bullets just yesterday after I rang Geoff and got a packet sent to me.

They don't sell many 600 cal projectiles here in Australia

My dies from CH4D will arrive in the next week or two, and when I get some brass off you, I'll have to dummy some up

The woodleighs I have are .618/.619 infront of the crimp groove and .622 from the crimp groove to the base.

Seems weird, what threw us was the drawings said .6205 and measured the rear of the projectile at .6220 and thought, no this isn't going to work. So it seems we definately can't load the bullets backwards to make big flat nose "poorman" solids they won't chamber rotflmo

Actually if anybody with a 600 OK has the headache time, load a woodleigh SP in backwards and tell me if it chambers, I bet it doesn't

All I can say is I'm just glad your doing the chamber on my 600 OK barrel. I would hate to get a reamer out here that wasn't to spec

Yer your right, this metric to imperial thing is bloody hard to do conversions with constantly

Joe,

Try the Woodleigh FMJ's. They look about the same on both ends. Real brutes.
Do you think that AUS customs would wet their pants if I snuck some 1,000 grain cast FN's in the box with the cases?

Yes, Imperial. I like the sound of that.

Wayne if you only gave me a small amount of them, wrapped them up together and clearly marked them as "SAMPLES", I don't believe it will be a problem. If they are great and I need to order a bulk lot, I will need a permit

Anybody you know have a damaged ONCE fired case I can use as a headspace gauge. We only need the head and belt,

otherwise swap one of my new cases for a once fired case out of one of your rifles, just mark it for me

regards
Joe
