Can anyone tell me who actually made the actions for these? I'm pretty sure Musgrave didn't.

LEW in Pretoria
( Lyttleton Engineering works) At the time the Model 80 was made Musgrave was no longer privately owned but part of the DENEL group and the manufacturing no longer undertaken in Bloemfontein.

The Model 80 action retained the essential features of a Mauser action but in modernized form.

Thanks Alf. I have one (a bespoken rifle made for me by Muasgrave) in .404 Jeffery. It is a sweet piece of iron, with a Ferlach barrel...just wondered who made the action.

My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

If the barrel is Ferlach it is more than likely a Joseph Just of Ferlach barrel.

Joseph Just was to South African gunmakers what Lothar Walther is today.
