Can one shoot standard 375 H&H cartridge in a 375 H&H Ackley Improved? And, can you build a 375 H&H Ackley Improved on a 300 Win Mag R700 action? Thanks ahead of time for any info - AIU

Yes (that is one benefit of the Ackley design), and yes, the Remington 700 magnum action is H&H-length. George

Ditto GeorgeS. You should get good accuracy and only drop the velocity of the .375 H&H load about 150 fps in doing this. Same goes for the .375 Weatherby of latest chamber specs, and properly headstamped brass is easy to find for that one. The factory stuff does indeed do 2800 fps with 300 grain Noslers in a 26" barrel.

Our ammo was lost by KLM and showed up a day late in Lukwati. My sons killed two buffalo with borrowed .375 H&H ammo in a Sako safari grade .375AI on the first day of the safari. Both buffs were one shot kills!

After some experiance reloading 375 H&H brass fired in a Douglas chambered 375I and finding case life to be short due to metal being pulled from the expansion web I tried seating bullets out. The problem with that is the throat is freebored in my barrel. So I bought some 375 Weatherby brass made by Quality Cartridge and it chambers quite hard but the bolt will close. I have never fired 375 Weatherby factory ammo in this rifle and I am not going to. This is situation is one of those projects that never gets better. The 375 AI really cranks the recoil up. It has all the kick of a larger round. What could be more fun than that? Join the NRA
