My CZ550 American 9.3X62 has two crossbolts. Why, then, doesn't CZ feel that they need to install crossbolts on their 375 H&H (and more powerful) rifles? Are they only for cosmetics on the 9.3's? I see that their custom shop will install the crossbolts if so ordered. But again, why put them on the relatively mild-kicking 9.3 rifles instead of the real boomers? Landrum

I had been wondering that my self. I recently bought a 550 in 458 Win., and that was the first thing I noticed in the paperwork that comes with the rifle. The calibers under 375 hane the 2 crossbolts. The 375, 416 Rigby, and 458 only have the one. Even the rocks don't last forever.

I suspect its because the 9.3x62 is built on a standard action in a standard stock...CZ may feel that such a light stock needs the extra cross bolts.. The .375H&H however is built on their magnum action and stock and is altogether beefer and therefore doesn't need the two cross bolts? Regards, Pete

The 416 I just bought had NO external crossbolts at all. I installed 3 internal crossbolts and steelbeded. I wondered the same thing when looking through the manual. The only thing I can think of is the stock on the 9.3 is smaller and lighter and does not have a forward recoil lug?
