Or SunnyHill if you can't get a Blackburn, which seems to be a problem nowadays. Both expensive.

I got a Sunny Hill drop box for a 416 Rem project I am starting on. I am real pleased. I wanted Blackburn but Ted said he was way behind and it would be awhile.

I am pleased with the look and quality of the Sunny Hill.

As a general rule, people are nuts!

Big1,

Your question cannot be answered until the caliber is specified. For example, Blackburn makes a 4 round box for the 416 Rem Mag (no. 14x). But he does not make one for 10.75 x 68 or .404.

Blackburn is not behind, he's "way damn far behind". He got my money last September for a dropbox magazine box for a .404, and has told me five times it would be six weeks (in six-week intervals). I'm about to believe I'll never see my money or my mag box ........

Frank, I hope he proves my info to be out of date by eventually producing a true .404 mag box for you (and others). Good luck with the patience training. Smiler

I would really like to see him make a 404 drop box.

I had talked to him about the 9.3x70 Expert and he told me send him the C.I.P drawings and I did.

Not too sure if he is tooling for the 404 or not yet.

When he does I think we'll go the expert route.

Ted has been using the 416 drop box for .404s for years, He has sold me a lot of them and Dennis Olson has been opening them up..it has never occurred to Ted that they are not the same, check the one you have with a mic. Smiler Smiler

It's not a very good solution and will not guarentee 110% reliability, but works most of the time! Smiler

There is hope! I just received some bottom metal from Blackburn that only took about 7 weeks to get from the time I ordered it.

Didn't Timan post a while back that he had nailed the numbers for .404 bottom metal? And that he would produce and sell these for mauser actions other than his own?

The Pre-'64 M70 in .375 H&H would hold 4 down in the box plus one up. Mine still does.

The fatter .458 might crowd that.

Buy used ZKK 602 or cosmetically enhanced version called CZ 550Magnum. Those things hold 5 rounds in magazine. Why do you need 5rd mag?
