<Aaron Rust>double gun case
I am wanting a double rifle case for my rifle. I want something for traveling but dedicated to this one rifle. Does anyone have knowledge of a double rifle case with a custom fitted interior. I don't care what the contruction materical is as long as it is strong. I have seen the German hunters at the airport with great looking cases. They were plastic but apeared very strong an nice.

DB BillHave you taken a look at what is called the "Lef-of-Mutton" leather cases made for double-barreled shotguns. They are shaped like a rifle blank with a divider down the middle...one side for the butt section and the other side for the barrels and forearm. A leather cap goes over the whole thing. I don't think I would ship one via air but they sure are handy for transporting in a car or truck...very, very classy.

AtkinsonAmericase can be purchased from Cabelas and it is steel construction and will take about anything you can dish out...They have others also...Lots of them around..
I have a leg of mutton, green cloth and leather but I ship the gun in it, in my Tuff Case.

<Bill Tompkins>Aaron Rust,
Try Cape Outfitters. They have a good selection of cases for double rifles or shotguns, some at very decent prices.

270Model70I don't know if these will be suitable for air travel, but I have one and can vouch for their quality and suitability to a fine double.

Look at the Americase website
www.americase.com . I had Americase build a custom case for a takedown bolt rifle and it turned out perfect. I sent them cutout tracings of my rifle pieces, scope and bolt; showed them the layout I wanted and they did the rest. It really is sweet. It's 22" long, 13" high and 3" deep. It has a black cordura cover and doesn't look much like a gun case except to you or me. Most gate agents have to be told that it is a gun case and needs to be checked. I will tell you it took two tries to get the fitting right, but it was quick and painless. About $400 including cover, nameplates, and embroidery.
