My .375 Weatherby shoots Remington 270 grain .375 H&H fairly well and they are only $37.28 per box. Are there any long-term ill effects of doing this? I am only talking about practice, not hunting.

No problems whatsoever.
The .375 H&H and .375 Wby loaded ammo are the same length. There should be no neck erosion from doing this.

The .375 H&H brass shortens a little by the end of the blowout to .375 Wby chamber fit, but it is not detrimental to the rifle at all. The lower pressures produced may smoke the necks a little but maybe not. No problems.

Are you zeroed for the .375 H&H load?
It does produce good accuracy, I'll guess?

I would be interested to know where the Wby factory load of 300-grain Nosler partition at 2800 fps (26") impacts in relation to the 270-grain H&H factory load at 100 yards,
and what velocity you get from that H&H load fired in your .375 Wby?

Brand new rifle, I'll have to report back. I also have a sample pack from Superior to try (.375 Weatherby).

Now I don't have to buy reloading equipment and remodel my basement! I think I'll spend some of my savings on a chronograph.

I wish Oehler was still selling them.

The 270-grain .375 H&H ammo will likely be about 150 fps slower (and lower pressure) in the .375 Wby chamber, than it would be in a .375 H&H chamber, on average.

The ProChrono Chronograph is a great, inexpensive instrument that I have tested against an Oehler and they agreed very closely.
It is reliable if the light is good.

I got good results with one of those yesterday at 21 degrees F and midday sun.

I only lost 10fps (Oehler33) firing H&H brass in my .375 AI

The rifle is a Montana 1999 in an Echols-McMillan stock. I'll check into the ProChrono.

I have a perfectly good .416 Rigby so no excuse for the Weatherby..............unless I go for brown bear!!!!

It's 24 degrees here now and we think that's cold. None of the ranges are heated here in Dixie.

Tried out my new ProChrono (thank you). I hope I did it correctly. It was sunny and about 60 degrees. I used the diffusers and the chrono was 15 ft from the muzzle. All .375 were fired in .375 Weatherby with a 24 inch barrel.

You did not have any pressure signs?

O.K., so I exaggerated on the velocity loss of H&H ammo fired in a Wby chamber. I was giving you a worst case scenario. The old sloppy throat from 1944 with the long freebore would be worse. You have a 2001 throat?

I get about 2740 fps in my 24" barrel with the Wby factory 300-grain Nosler.

In my 375 H&H AI I'm getting 2935 fps with Sierra 300 gr. BTs using 94 grs. of MRP and a 26.5" barrel - i.e., 378 performance and no pressure signs.

...................................That would be really scary to me [ and if truth be known it kind of is ] ,, but there was a write up by Stan Skinner in G&A I think it was on the 375 Weatherby when it came out again and he had a 2900 plus feet per second load in the load tables.........I haven,t found the right load to do that with my 416 Rem Mag yet ........
