I have one..took about 40 shots to get sighted in. I use round balls with 120 grains of triple 7..this is more than the 90-100 grain they recomend. The shots are about 6 inch apart at 50 yards not the best but OK. One barrel shoots 4 or so inches low.
I will get a minie ball or slug mold for it some day.
they look nice but wood work could be better..mine has about 32nd of an inch gap around the tang.

Bob,
Did i send you lee's number for smithin on these beasts?

Wayne has a mould for a maxi ball www.customcastbullets.com

My 58's are pretty nice. I had to swap sights to get even close to were is should run... both guns hit within 6" at 50... little jeffe's left barrel shoots low, every time, but not too bad...

mine shoots about 2-3" at 50, off hand... not too bad for a front stuffing double.

I have one and it shoots great. POI are exactly horizontal for both barrels and very consistent. Mabey I got a good one, but I'm impressed with it.

The only thing I did was to replace the #11 caps/nipples with Musket caps/nipples. It's much easier to seat a musket cap and they have more 'spark'. I also use H777.

ps. I forgot to add that each barrel has it's own independent rear flip up sight. This makes regulation very easy. Also, I've heard that the 72's on average have been better than the smaller Kodiak calibers, but that's just hear-say.

ahh.. BNG raises a good point.

If you set each sit for each barrel, it's easy... but it is NOT regulated, it's merely two guns sighted in.

Mine are set for ONE sight, both barrels, and if that doesn't work, then it's time for regulation..
