My guy sent all his CZ ammo back and says that CZ "threw it out."

He says that Jamison is supposed to be making the brass for the CZ Safari Classic Line: .505 Gibbs, .450 Rigby, .404 Jeffery. I wonder if he will be loading it too?

I've got to go load his .505 Gibbs brass with some Bridger 550 grain solids and shoot them into the Iron Buffalo.

I wonder if it can get to compartment 12 or beyond?

If that won't do it then maybe a 700 grain AP in the .500 A-Square???

However, the pointy AP will probably veer out the side of the Iron Buffalo, whether at 2200 fps or if shot from a 50 BMG at +2700 fps.

So much for the claim that the new A Square line was to be manufactured with better quality control.

All Asquare stuff I played with was uniform but they made the bases too thin on the big cases.
Like 450NE, 475NE. 500 NE.Never had one
in 505 of theirs.
And if that is case with 505 stuff and case
being thin in the base,
blows out the corner, CZ don't want to
be liable.

RIP-Maybe grind a flat point on that 700 AP bullet,it would still weigh over 600 grains.Ed

Ed,
If I grind the copper point off the AP, I will just get into the pointy steel penetrator underneath, and the jacket will shed on impact and it will really tumble badly then, eh?

I hope you don't expect me to gring down the API points too. Eeker

The .50, 20mm and 30mm AP bullets would fail miserably on the Iron Buffalo, they are just good for penetrating armor.

They might soon cut the Iron buffalo in two at the midsection, but that will add little to understanding. Thanks for the prod on this subject. thumb

RIP,

For all you have spent on the iron buffalo, couldn't you just buy retired horses from the livestock auction for this work? Wink

RIP, 50 cal ball and AP shed their jacket too easy as it is. Sometimes a 1" pices of plywood is enough.

Sorry I didn't know that about those
bullets. Are there any 50 cal bullets, that
are of a solid construction.I saw one most of the way through a 1.25 inch thick steel plate,
and the point was sticking through and looked like nose and jacket were still in place.
That is what gave me the idea.Ed

500grains,
Tee hee. Really it is just chicken feed and Ray had unsatisfactory results with dead elephants. It would be impossible to insure consistency from shot to shot with nags from the glue factory, or any live or dead animal, I am sure you would agree. Wink

Tiggertate,
Yep, even when they go through cardboard they often tumble in a sloped dirt bank/berm and allow me to recover them with minimal digging sometimes, steel penetrator completely free of jacket.

Ed,
Good thought. thumb The Barnes .510/800 grain Bore Riders are needle nosed solid brass that could be flat pointed and end up with a pretty heavy bullet.
Just turning them around and shooting them base first might be interesting too.

RIP, something tells me that the "pitch it in the trash" approach is one that many others also may have used to solve A-Square ammo problems. (Maybe after pulling the bullets for re-use.)

I wonder who makes the A-Square brass nowadays? I had heard a couple of years ago that they had a new source and quality problems were going to be a thing of the past. Apparently not the case.

I've also heard that the A-Square Triad of bullets are now being made by TCCI, but that they (a) aren't what they used to be or (b) were never any good and still aren't. Depends on who's giving the opinion.

The exorbitant prices, unending customer service problems and non-existent to varying quality standards have always scared me off of A2, so I've never used anything they produced.

Except the A2 reloading manual. They do publish a great reloading manual.

RIP- It might have been one of those the neighbor put almost all the way through
the mild steel plate. Just from what I
remember seeing it
a few years ago, the protruding nose looked intact.Yes I would to see if you can get some
bullet all the way through the Iron Buffalo,
without using Rob's or my big 700 stuff which
might disintegrate it on the way through..Ed.

I had some A-Square brass. I threw it in the garbage.

I had some A-Square ammo. I pulled the bullets and threw the rest in the garbage.

But my stuff was vintage 1999.
