The title says it all, I have found a couple of wallets of the original A-Square brass for the .500. Should I bother? I doubt seriously I will ever go to Africa and the only reason would be to have some cartridges that actually say, ".500 A-Square", on the bottom instead of, ".460 Weatherby". The cost is $40.00 for 10 cases in the wallet.
Opinions appreciated.

$4 a case sounds high. Try to get them for $2.50 each.

If you dont have a-square brass,I would have bought them, but the Norma 460wm is a better buy.The a-square brass is bad(spiking of 500a-square).The 460 brass you have to form and then fireform, but its still a better choice.

My A2 brass is soft as a dog turd.

I recommend necking up Norma 460 Wby.

This is what I was actually thinking. All of my ~250 cases are Norma.
If anyone wants this brass you can call Great Nothern Guns (907) 563-3006 in Ancorage and buy.
Thanks for the opinions. By the way they do have some other brass and loaded ammo including some for double-rifle. I do not remember all the guy quickly quoted me.

If your tired of brass with the 460 Weatherby headstamp for your 500 A-Square order some of Mast Technologies 378/460 Weatherby cylindrical brass without the headstamp. The brass is very good. I had problems with my A-Square brass being soft and locking up my gun at 2200 fps velocity. 470 Mbogo

Maybe a silly question, but are we talking about Weatherby headstamped brass or specifically Norma?

Brad,
Note the date in 2001 on that post?

MAST is gone. Maybe some leftover stock scattered here and there could be found, but ... where to start looking???

Jamison International would be the maker using some of their old machines and a bunch more new machines.

I will soon be contacting Jamison about .416 Rigby cylindrical brass for various uses.

I don't know if he does the 460Wby cylindrical basic like MAST used to.

Quality Cartridge would be a good place to start looking for that (or headstamped 500 A-Square brass), or does Norma ever turn loose any basic brass???

Brad,
I've got some for now. I mean big quantities next. I have visited in person with Marc Jamison several times, when I was working in South Dakota, toured his plant. He is the real deal, has the right stuff.
