I have the same rifle and from what I understand it is fairly easy. I have been advised to use a conversion reamer as these don't cut the belt area and is realitively easy. The magizine will have to be altered but I understand this is also easy with a Model 70 375 H&H mag. box. Headspace guages would be needed, too.

conversion reamer and a 375 magbox.. unless you are doing the work yourself, it's cheaper to just buy the box.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! I had one done a few years back. Rechamber, take out the spacer in the box, adjust the ejector. It all worked fine.

If you need another voice in agreement, it works!

I had the very same thing done in 2001 to an off the shelf Safari Classic .458 Win. The factory barrel is a little fat, almost .459" but it still shoots 2-3moa with just about anything and an apeture sight. thumb

Where can a conversion reamer be purchased for this type of project? Is this something a novice could handle?
