Just returned from Zim where I used North Fork solid shank softs in a 470 NE (500 gr) and 416 Rem (370 gr). I used CEB 13's as a solid option.
I pushed the 470's @ about 2200 FPS and the 416's @ +2500 FPS.
The PH suggested Barnes TSX's prior to me coming and I had good loads for them but had to try the NF's.
The NF 500 soft blew through both shoulders of my Buff leaving a quarter sized exit hole @ 25 yds.
He lost his rear end on impact, ran 30 yards, piled up and was DEAD in 30 seconds (Began bellowing within seconds.
Shot Zebra, Kudu and Bush pig with the 416. All fantastic results.
My PH was extremely impressed but initially he was unsure as he was not famaliar with the NF's I left him with about 8 470 Softs to use for himself.
Supposedly not to hard the "double" barrels either.
BTW; The CEB 13's shot to the same point of impact with identical loading. Great bullets as well.

NF softs are some of the best bullets I have ever used. I have not tried CEB but will this fall on a few critters.... glad you had good luck.

NF makes great bullets, but I wish they published BCs.

I do not believe their BC's are very high. I do not think I would personally use them for long range shooting. I would refer to the bullets I used as a "protected point".
I really did not anticipate taking any shots over 300 yards and my longest was 250 up the tailpipe of a Kudu running away after I had botched a shot at the animal the day prior. The bullet went into the left hip and ended up in the front shoulder. It flattened him on impact (370 gr; 416). Made up for the poor shot the day prior.
I hate wounding an animal.

Great info, NF make great bullets. I've been shooting the SS 400 and 300's for the last couple years and they have performed perfect in my .416 Rigby and .375 Ruger on buffalo. All have retained around 90% even when hitting solid bone.
