Hi,

I was checking up on the hostory of the 8x68 and stumbled upon a .375 based on the same case ie the Hölderin. Sounds interesting (but with the .375 Ruger out..oh well) and I´m wondering if you guys have any experience on it?

Thanks,

Cewe

I would imagine that it is very similar to the .375 Ruger, although I thought I heard mention that the .375 Holderin case was left with more taper for smoother feeding. I've heard of people using the x68 brass to form .35 Newton and in almost every discussion of the .375 Ruger someone mentions the similarities to the newton brass. I find it interesting that the .375 Holderin has been submitted for CIP pressure approval.

Hello K,

Nice to get at least one answer Wink. I thought it would be pretty close to the Ruger but as I have 8x68 brass it would be interesting having one in .375 also.

Just an idea at this stage but who knows...

Cheers

i ALWAYS had this idea, and posted so on several occasions.

But the .375 Ruger with that more common base diameter has one BIG advantage - I can always rechamber or rebarrel a gun in .375 Ruger based cases for ANY standard H & H belted Mag chambering ... and there are TONS out there!

too late, IMO

Doing some other .375 is defintely more logical BUT since when has logic become a part of this game?

I can just see peoples faces at the range when they ask what I´m shooting: "A .375 WHAT?"

I guess it´s half the fun Cool

MOST importantly: Are you going to have another built similar to your 8x68? Sorry, but I can't help but covet that gorgeous killing machine!!

Top of the morning to you .366!

At the moment I´m just toying with the idea BUT if I decide to build one it would be a big sister to the 8x68 -she´s a beut´ eh?

Since off the rack rifles are to small for me (except for some older Mausers that have a stright stock) I´m now trying too keep everything along the same lines, LOP is identical on almost all my rifles.

It´s now a lot easier to swop rifles and shoot (fairly) well.

Oooh!

Tha´s a beauty, wonderful!

Classic lines, slim forearm, with "African" sights - how light is it?

And in 8 x 68S - no silly belt,and RARE! And a classic of it´s own!

I am SURE you LOVE her!

Man! is that some sweet looking classically styled rifle or what. Great cartridge choice, too. I wonder what a 9,3 would do, but the Brennecke is pretty close and available. It would be interesting to see how the Ruger would fare if other US rifle mfgrs would pick this Holderin cartridge up.

My Gosh! that's a nice rifle.

Rich, I'd like to see him get one in a 9.3. There is a 9.3x68S as well. But I imagine a 375 caliber to him is as enticing as a 9.3 is for us.

Howdy,
Thanks for the comments on my rifle -the honor does go to Boha and my gunsmith -Sam Björkholm- for making it "just right". It´s a pretty heavy gun, I´m guessing around 4 kilos and it has a lot of weight in the barrel to make it just right for shooting from sticks.

And it works Cool

I have a 9.3x62, an older Husky restocked by Boha (man can that man fix a stock...he´s also done my 6.5x55 and redid my .416 Rigby) so I can´t really motivate myself for another one...the Hölderin would make sense when thinking about what I "need"...

Or just for the hell of it!

Cheers
