300 grain Trophy Bonded Bear claw
300 grain Nosler Partiton
300 grain Woodleigh
300 Grain Barnes X
300 Grain Swift A Frame

I''ve had excellent results with the 300gr. A-Frame, and have used it on game from jackals to Cape buffalo.

They will all work just fine, Nice that we have so many great choices, wasn't that way 30 years ago.

30 years ago their was the Nosler Partition. It is still the only bullet you need.

On water buffalo we have had FLAWLESS performance from the Swift in the .375H&H. Not as good in the higher velocity rounds though.

Why no mention of 300gr. North Fork bullets?

They should also be included.

Also, the 270gr. TSX deserves to be included, even if the 300gr. TSX is a better choice. Some people do use it as an overlap bullet for both Buff and PG.

I'm very surprised to see the Nosler Partition lagging badly behind the SAF as there's so many very positive posters on the AR forums for that bullet.

They are all good bullets and I wouldn't hesitate to hunt a buff with any of them.

Paramount to me would be which bullet feeds the best from my rifle, if it was found to be an issue. The next question is a personal one, do you like exits or the bullet balled up under the hide on the far side?

I think if a bullet hangs together and penetrates all the way to the skin on the far side, it has done EVERYTHING that could be asked of it. I can't see a big improvement for it to go one more inch and fall out the far side and if it goes out faster, that means it didn't expand as much or stay together, I can't see either of those things as an improvement.

An exit hole makes it a whole lot easier to track and this is not a small consideration IMO.

Roland: I voted for the X even though I'm a Swift Aframe user. The Xs just flat won't shoot in my rifle but I think a better choice in your poll would have been the TSX and the Fail Safe. I think these two will out-penetrate anything out there. My Swifts worked great on everything I've ever shot with them, I just think the TSX./ FS have an edge becasue they're sort of a "soft-solid" jorge

I do think the BARNES X bullets are good but will not use them as the usually exit , if I use a soft it is often in a situation were i don't want an exit otherwise I would use a solid.
Mt vote go's to the SWIFT A FRAME for a buffalo soft.

Usually I would agree, but since we are talking buffalo, its pretty much a moot point. Buffalo just do not bleed much externally and African trackers don't track by blood anyway.

Any of them will work just fine on Buffalo...I personally like the Noslers...

I sure as hell want an exit on Buffalo, I want that blood on the high grass waist high so that I can look ahead and have the jump on a charge...

If a bullet does not have and exit on buffalo then all you get is dribbling blood on the ground and everyone is bent over looking down and they get caught off guard and that results in injuries, has happened more than a few times.

I really disagree with your post...I have on nemourous ocassions seen buffalo spew blood out both sides as much as 10 feet every time their front feet hit the ground...I have seen geysers of blood spew up from a downed buffalo...I have tracked many buffalo in high grass and my pants would be covered in blood from walking that track...It takes two hole to do this, a entrance and a exit. I have been shooting buffalo for a lifetime, both hunting and culling and they do bleed and bleed profusely if you use enough gun and proper bullets, both softs and solids.
