If you want to have built a rifle in Ed Hubels' 585 HE caliber, today what do you buy for a foundation action; the big CZ and have the appropriate work done to it or do you get one from Montana Rifle Co. ($1,200 stainless or $1,100 chrome moly)?

I believe to command a premium price, there needs to be something very desirable and possibly unique about the XXXXXXX action. So far I see Nothing special or unique about it. I would NEVER pay over 2K for any bolt action ever again, and that includes the XXXX. Remember, we all worked with Montana Arms on the PH action as a less expensive action that was designed specifically to address ALL the shortcomings of even the CZ 550 and it did, although it took way longer than any of us expected. Even I lost faith in that project, but in the END Montanna Arms did indeed deliver. The good ol CZ550 has proven itself in the BIG BORE Rifle Arena for decades now.Its more than adequate as it comes from the factory and with just a little effort could be made to rival the VERY VERY best out there. I've said this before and I'll say it again. -Rob
