Just wondering if anyone had any other info on this cartridge besides whats at there website?

"The .408 CheyTac Cartridge was developed to fill the gap between the 338 Lapua and the .50 BMG, yet the downrange characteristics outperform the best .50 BMG bullets. The bullets are manufactured by Lost River Ballistic Technologies and are designed using PRODAS software. The projectiles are CNC lathe turned bullets of a copper/nickel alloy. The 419 grain projectile has a supersonic range of 2200 yards+ at standard air conditions. A second projectile is available - the 305 grain bullet is designed for a high velocity near range application. The average ballistic co-efficient is .945 over 3500 meters"

I think most people are avoiding the .408 CheyTac because the bullets are a pure custom job, till some of the major companies start making the correct bullets and available brass, I think you won't be finding this sucker on the firing line.

The 416SW is more practical, it's the 505 Gibbs shortened just over a 1/16" and improved. Being 416 there are a lot of bullets to choose from like the Barnres x 400grn with a BC of .546

What are the ballistics of the .416sw??

still waiting for the rifle, now told early Feb. Was hoping to have load worked out for hog deer season, but looks like I might not make it.

The 408 tec is for very speicalize app. long range shooting under 600 to 700 we have stuff that works very well. The working pressuure is around 70000psi.ect Just as with any custom rifle or shell. the general shooting public dosen't get the ball rolling untill the price comes down. The brass is 505 gibbs blown out made stronger for the higher pressures their is a very good forum on it at longrangehunting.com
