{Same Question Posted In DOUBLE RIFLES, so you only need to respond once, thanks.} O.K. Below are the links to the OEHLER announcement and to a really LOADED CED M2 shopping cart from CED direct. Honestly look at the CED package and compare it to the very impressive package from OEHLER. Now I seriously ask, is this unit better than owning TWO CED M2 units fully decked out with battery pack and car- rying case? The Oehler is $595 & CED $612.00 both shipped. http://www.oehler-research.com...4ff2a3b2a+1278345065 http://www.cedhk.com/shop/cart.php CED has an infrared accessory usable in ZERO light, yes, NO sunlight NOR any light. Can Oehler do that? NO SARCASM HERE! I just want to make the wisest choice. If OEHLER was selling at $400.00 there would be no question, but at $600.00 a bit more fact finding is in order. REALLY, it seems I could buy a super package from CED and an entire additional CED M2 Chrono Set for about the same as the OEHLER package offer. So what's the RIGHT move? How do you get $612 for the CED? Why would you want the chronograph to work in zero light? Good way to shoot the screens. I like the third proof channel idea in the Oehler. Also,the Oehler screen spacing is farther. this gives more accuracy. Indy Life is short. Hunt hard.

Can't speak for anything else but I've had an Oehler since the mid 80's and haven't wanted anything else. Mine is the older model (33 I believe) that doesn't have the proof channel or a printer. Since they are making a run, I will contact them and see about upgrading. Have gun- Will travel The value of a trophy is computed directly in terms of personal investment in its acquisition. By Indy: Why would you want the chronograph to work in zero light? From Jack: Not that I want to shoot in zero light, {using night vision equipment for example} I'm just pointing out a characteristic that I think is impres- sive. Maybe I am showing my ignorance? I am guessing that in low light or twi- light or dawn, etc. it's a plus to be able to work in "imperfect" light. By Indy: I like the third proof channel idea in the Oehler. Line up two CED systems in a row shooting through both with each shot does the same thing, again, unless I am showing my ignorance. Jack OH GOD! {Seriously, we need the help.}

Have owned both...there is no comparison- buy the oehler! We use the CED's at club level for IPSC matches and all have hit the same snags my personal one did- that as soon as the battery gets 'a little bit low' you get false readings. The machine still works - you would never know there was a problem...except that your ammo factored last weekend over the same machine and today you have failed chrono...change battery and you pass chrono... On my own machine I figured I needed to change battery when voltage 'fell' to 9,1v (NB New duuracell starts at 9,2) Machine fails to give any readings when voltage falls to 8,9 (fair enough) The Oehler Saeed gave me either gives an accurate reading or it doesn't work.... I donated my CED to the club

I am in the market for one of these, which model Oehler would make sense for an average (to simple minded) guy. I like something easy to setup and easy to get the results. No fancy add ons to go wrong. I dont mind reading and recording numbers by hand if it save me a few dollars and be one less thing to go wrong, need ink or run down batteries etc. I wondered about the generic units sold by cabelas for $100-200.

Oehler only makes the model 35P for retail sales and it has not been available for a number of years. Their primary business is industrial instrumentation. They decided at some point that competing with the $100 chronographs was not worth their time. If you have the chance, buy one of these 35P's while they are available. My old Oehler has worked faithfully for 25 years but I have kicked myself for not upgrading to the 35P when I had the chance, maybe now I can.
