This is my first post, but I thought some of you might be interested in the .600 OK Rifle that was built for me by Wayne Jacobson of AHR. It was built on a GMA African Magnum Action. It has a 14.5" LOP. The barrel is 24", and the gun weighs a little over 14 lbs.....(I'm more afraid of recoil than I am of carrying around something that is this heavy). I had Wayne tart it up a little bit with a jewelled bolt, an extended trigger bow tang, and an engraved bolt knob. The stock blank came from Dressels in Yakima, Wa. The blank is a kind of Walnut called "Paradox", which I believe is a sub species of Bastogne Walnut. I am a neophyte to Big Bore shooting; but found this rifle to be quite managable in the recoil department, (when we took it to the range, we used the X-Brake). The big gun wound up setting off car alarms in the parking lot every time we touched it off. A guy standing 6' behind me said he felt the shock wave when we fired it! I do not know how to post photos on this site, but I can e-mail some photos to someone who can help me with this. In closing, I want to first thank Wayne Jacobson of AHR for building me a beautiful rifle, and secondly to thank Robert Garnick for inventing this particularly special cartridge. Best to you all and Happy New Year. Chip.

Congratulations! I just got one too but it is too beautiful to hunt with!!! What am I supposed to do, buy another one I will not be afraid to hurt? I have never worried about dinging stocks or getting any rifle I own dirty or wet, but I don't even want friends to touch it it is so awesome!! I too am inept on the picture thing, but will try and figure out how to post some later this week. Matthew

Congratulations to both of you! Three more months on mine, but it will be a field grade on the PH action. The car alarm thing is priceless! Rich

Congratulations on a Fine Big Bore rifle. Enjoy buddy " If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand which feeds you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countryman " Samuel Adams, 1772

Congratulations! I just received one from Wayne last week. It sounds like you got some great upgrades done to the rifle. I'm sure it's a fantastic looking rifle. How about some photos

I have a number of photos of this rifle, but I'm not sure how to go about posting them to this site. I can either e-mail them to someone who knows how to do this....or if someone wants to take the time to instruct me how to do it myself.....that's okay too. Chip.

Hi CHIPB, Awesome! The more you shoot it, the better you will like it. Kodiak softs, Woodlieigh soft and solids, Barnes Banded Solids, Macifej's Solids, RGB's Bore riders and "Lightweights", AHR's X-Bullet - all are fantastic and fun for plinking as well as serious hunting. There may be another way, but what I have done to post pictures is to first upload them to an on-line photo album like Photobucket. Then using the URL for the photo, click on the "URL" button when you are writing a message. Insert the URL for the photo from photobucket or whatever you are using. Click "OK" and you will see the hypertext for the photo in quotations in you r message, keep inserting the URLs for all fo the photos you want to embed then hit the "POST NOW" button. Voila - she is done! Good luck, Paul NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

CCMDoc: I just shot one of Wayne's .600s. It was a very light gun and I was just astounded at how effective the brake was. Did you find the same thing? Congrats on another one of my Children being born and another Shooter to add to my friends list. Wayne and AHR do a great job, but remember these were developed as working guns, not safe queens so take it out and shoot it alot. What always astonishes me is that some people complain about carrying a 12lb gun, but forget the ol M1 Garand didnt weigh much less. People seem to have been able to hump those ol Garands Ok. Irregardless, Have fun and if you need custom bullets let me know.-Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!

Hi Dave, Yes - extremely effective brake. I can't quantify how much reduction in recoil there might be but it is substantial. To be honest though, the AHR stock design (thanks to Rob, Wayne and Ed Plummer) really distributes the recoil properly so that even without the brake recoil is manageable even when shooting 900grain bullets north of 2300fps. Shoot it without the brake and you'll think "Hey, that isn't so bad." Then put the brake on and you will think "WOW, that thing really works!" Yeah - Wayne was disappointed in me after I returned from Zimbabwe and my 600 didn't have a scratch or dent from it's Cape buffalo encounter. NRA Lifer; DSC Lifer; SCI member; DRSS; AR member since November 9 2003 Don't Save the best for last, the smile for later or the "Thanks" for tomorow

LOL... Mine is definately a working gun... I got back form Zim in August and still haven't cleaned it... AHR builds a tough rifle no doubt as I literally drug mine through the bush and it still looks like new... Matt V. ______________________ Sometimes there is no spring...
