Mims,

You have some way cool rifles shown on your website. I didn't see a way past the "Cowtown" page the link in the post brings up until I clicked on the link from your AR Profile.

Question: what was needed to go from a LH M70 Wini .375 H&H to a .458 Lott in the way of gunsmithing work? If you care to, what budget should a lefty buyer plan on to duplicate your custome rifle work?

Are you lefties lining up to buy these rifles? [Wink]

Harry / Hunter Jim,
I just bought a LH .375 H&H Winchester Safari Express last week. They are very nice! [Cool] I already have a .338 Win,.458 Win, and a .450 Ackley. The .458 Lott is like a sister of the .450 Ackley as far as ballistics (50ft/sec difference) so I have no need for one. At the right price though, I might buy one anyway. [Big Grin] What I need now is one of those LH square Mauser actions that Atkinson listed in the African forum to build a "Big" gun with. WAY COOL!!! Trouble is that they are $1500 and that is what we all say we want to pay for a complete gun.

Timberghost,

Yes those South African magnum actions that Searcy is selling are very nice. I know one of the gunsmiths who works for Searcy, and he showed me the RH version last year. Very nice. He told me then that the bottom metal is from Searcy.

The Dakota LH magnum size barreled action is around $2,500, so $1,500 is not so bad on that scale. [Wink]

HunterJim,
Those LH actions are a hell of a find at that price. [Cool] I am expecting a nice bonus at the first of the year and I just might have to buy one. What caliber would you suggest to barrel it in? .450 A-Square, .450 Dakota, or should I look at a 50? I would want something impressive, but not so big that it's stupid. I have a 6.5 pound .450 Ackley and can handle recoil as well as most, but some calibers are just too much (.600 Nitro).
I just bought a Ruger #1H .416 Rigby today. NIB with dies & ammo. Beautiful wood and got it at a great price. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Timberghost,

I have a BRNO M602 in .375 H&H that I intend to re-barrel to .465 H&H when Holland gets that cartridge to market. That is the .460 Weatherby case necked up a bit, but with "Hollandish" taper. Design MV is in the 2,350 to 2,375 fps range. Then I will go ele hunting.

I had A-Square build a .450 Ackley years ago, but I never liked that rifle. I eventually donated it to my SCI Chapter. I also fooled around a bit with a .450 WSM this year.
