dgr416Ruger RSM 375 H&H convert or not
With the winchesters out of site this gun looks good.I found a 375 ruger for $1000 do I rebore it to 416 Rem mag or what. The Winchester are $3000 .There are not many 416s withoiut winchester. They only made about 125 a year or so 416s.I want one of these rugers but want it in 416 rem mag with Ruger sites and Ruger Bluing.I love these guns finally found this one.Why 416 rem mag I still have 8000 pcs of brass and a zillion 416 bullets.I have 2500-3000 of the 410 gr woodleigh bullets.I dont want a 416 rigby either. That new brass and dies and something else to but.I just wonder if its possible to get an accurate rifle reboring this one.I passed on a 375 last year for $750.

jeffeossosell the 416 rem brass,
buy an rsm in 416 rigby for 12-1400
a rebore is not ASSURED to work, and could turn out bad.. and you are out a 600 barrel on TOP of a 450 rebore
or, better still, get one in 458 lott and load up/down to tastes

tiggertateStep one is to ask Jim Dubell or Dan Pedersen if there is anything onerous about reboring Ruger barrels. Some hammer-forged barrels cut well, some don't. I know for a fact their stainless pistol barrels cut like butter but that doesn't say much about the alloy in their rifle barrels.
If they feel comfortable with it, then I wouldn't hesitate if that were what I truly wanted.

JohnTheGreekI own and love my Winchester .416 and still I would advocate selling the brass (to me

) and buying a ruger in .416 Rigby. There is no sense in converting that big action to a Rem Mag when it will handle a Rigby.
JMHO,
John

dgr416I have 8000 pieces of 416 rem mag brass.I like paying .38 each alot better than $2 each.Plus the rigby just kicks more uses more powder and cost too much for ammo and is no better than the 416 rem mag.Does anyone know an excelent reboring guy?And how much does this cost?I love the Rugers but want it in a 416 rem mag.
