Hi Guys,
I'm going to replace Rugers black foresight with one of NECG's replacement beads. Now question is white bead or fibre optic?? 1.5mm diameter or 2.5mm size bead????

I like the white bead and they hold up better than the fiber optic front sights. Be sure to file the sides of the NECG sight down slightly and then test it for fit, file and test, file and test. You want it to be snug but not too tight. I think when you go to remove the factory front sight you will see what I mean, they are a bit** to get off because they fit too tight.

Hello,
I own three of the RSM's and changed one sight/front out and other poster is correct, SOB to remove. Found out that if you place a few drops of CLP on front sight insert, let soak two or three days, seems to move easier. As for size of bead, using metalic sights, the front sight and how it is seen by you is the important part of the sight picture. Rear sight, target, can be a bit fuzzy, will be, but that front sight picture must be as sharp and bold as possible and therefore would opt for the larger bead, post, etc. I do have the red optic style, but believe I will opt for the brass blade style on the next one and file to suit for a given load. Good luck.

I switched mine out for white. Very easy to see and acquire quickly.

That Depends.. I found in real world Buffalo situation, anything over 50-60yds the fiber optic covers a very large portion of Mbogo's shoulder/brisket making exact shot plcement difficult.. I would say on a 24" barrel go for the fiber optic, 22" go for the bead..

I replaced mine with the fiberoptic from NECG, then a stray spray of GunScrubber/degreaser melted it. Eeker

I then replaced the remnants of it with the largest white bead that NECG had, and am very happy with this for close range backup sight, should the scope ever need to come off the .416 Rigby.

I like those Ruger big old white beads that you can buy from NECG or Brownells.

I should also mention that the NECG replacement beads are longer than the slot in the RSM. I just let the extra hang off (it is not much but is noticable) but I guess you could cut or grind it off if it bothered you.
