I own a Heym Express in 37t H&H. Best rifle I have owned and for me perfect in every way. This rifle points like a fine shotgun and is beautiful and shoots sub m.o.a. I have handled the Sako and to me there is no comparison. The Heym in like a custom while the Sako is more a production gun. I am not sure about the price difference. When I first saw the Heym it was something I had to have. Owned MANY rifles and the Heym Express is the best. You will be happy with the Heym.

I had a brain fart.
That Magnum Mauser 98 above HAS had extractor modification.

It does snap over a pushfed round dropped into the chamber without going through the magazine CRF,
and without haveing to fuss with the Mauser Extractor Pinch (MEP).
My bad.
I stand by everything else I said.
I am happy to say that the .450 Dakota with Prechtl action will hold 4 down in the drop box plus 1 in the chamber. It is a 5-shooter !
It is CRF + CRE + PF -MEP.
just like a Heym.
Hey, it is not a Heym (sigh) and it is not a .458 WIN (sigh) but it will make do.

One thing the guys at Heym told me about the Heym Express being different than a Mauser 98 is the Heym Express did not have “thrid lug”at the root/back of the bolt.

I do not own a Heym Express, but have shot one in 375 HH. My AR handle taking into consideration , take the Heym Express.

To be clear, I am referring to he current Martini Heym Express not the Express of Old.

Unless I’m mistaken, that third lug is NOT mated to the action like the ones on the front of the bolt, it’s only a failsafe.

Baxter: That would be correct. Not a concern just a difference from the Pedigree 98.

Texas Blue Devil,

Buy a donkey for the flowers.
I would have a Heym/Martini Express fitted up for a .458 WIN with a 3.6" magazine length,
in the best of all possible worlds.

I have a Sako brown bear in 450 Rigby with a Swarovski Z6. 1-6x24 EE
the EE stand for extended eye relief
mounted with opotilok low rings and never had problem with the case hitting the scope
hitting the scope I have read it is with a 3 turret scope hitting the turret on the ejection port

buy the Sako you will have will be able to buy a lot of ammo and practice
by the way the barrel his glass bedded about 4 inches forward the action with a metal piece in the bedding where the recoil log goes in.....
front sight goes up and down and rear left to right
the only complaint would be that the recoil pad is hard

The Sako has been described as a 'push' CRF. So, read the data/debates and make up your own mind on that subject.

I agree with surefire7! I will not own a bolt rifle that is not CRF, for the hunting of big/dangerous game.
Sako rifles are fine rifles, and well made, and has but one draw-back and that is being a pushfeed action.
