These were based on the 404, before the current "expolosion" of 404 cartridges we have today. Are they still available? Any info you can share would bring me up to date on this. Thanks. ~~~Suluuq

A company called NASS out of B.C. was distributing them here in Canada. They were called the Imperial Magnums, based on full length 404 cases, in the typical calibers. The one oddball was the 311, think "super magnum 303". I haven't heard anything about them for a while now. Maybe some of our B.C. posters have more info. - Dan

Remington copied the Imperial Magnum almost identical dimensions with the UltraMag. I think NASS is still around.Mark

I don't know much about them either. I think Daryl is right about them coming out of Osoyoos. They were also called the Canadian Magnum I think. They were the equivalent of the new Ultra Mags. Hopefully someone here can enlighten us. Canuck

I believe a gunsmith by the name of Nobby Uno had a big part in that company. I know that he is still working in Courtenay, BC. I have the phone # at home, I'll post it tomorrow. Hope this helps.

Back some 15 years, I had their brochure. They offered the rifles in a Sako action(perhaps another one as well, I don't recall). Their "flagship" cartridge was the 311, out of the other diameters they offered. Ahead of the game, I think. Perhaps lost in time? ~~~Suluuq

Nobby Uno's number is 250-338-6038 (from Access to Firearms) if anyone was interested. Canuck

I had some dealings with the original Imperial magnum company. The owner was a retired RCMP officer and after some time ended up in bankruptcy in the mid 1990. During the bankruptcy I received some information that Canadian Magnum was then going to be able to provide all the Imperial Magnum products under the name NASS. Both companies were located in BC, Canada. Since their original mailing I have received nothing from the company. I have a 338 Imperial Magnums built by a gunsmith. It is, like mentioned earlier, a full length 404 case necked to diameter and blowen out. With the availability of the 300 RUM I now have reasonably priced brass for the rifle. The 338 RUM is shorter than the 300 RUM and the brass is unusable. The neck on the Imperial Magnums are longer than the RUM by a small amount and the shoulder on the 300 RUM has to be set back a slight bit. One of the biggest problems the original Imperial Magnum company had was that the original brass was too soft. This resulted in less than anticipated loads from the cartridges.
