Hi I see a lot of comments, that in a pinch, you can do both of the above in rifles chambered for the bigger round. My question is: does a 458 Lott flawlessly cycle 458 win mag ammo, enough so you'd feel comfortable hunting elephants, or buffalo, or worse, lions, with it? Same with the 375 Weatherby. Does it function flawlessly, and perfectly reliably, with 375 H&H ammunition? Thanks GS

It really depends on the rifle, your best bet is to get some 458 WM rounds or 375 H&H (preferably dummy rounds) and try them out.j LostHorizonsOutfitters.com ---------------------------- "You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas" Davy Crockett 1835 ----------------------------

Properly done, they should feed the lesser cartridge flawlessly. The key there is the skill (or lack thereof) of the maker. When I built my 375 H&H AI on a Whitworth factory 375, I left the rails untouched but I added a wider box from Blackburn. The gun fed either round flawlessly. I have not played with the Lott so someone else will have to comment about that. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

As bwana said, it will depend on the rifle. But I'd be tempted to believe that the .375 H&H would work pretty well in a .375 Weatherby rifle. "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."
