Recently got introduced to the 9.3x62 The only other rifle I have that qualifies as a ~big bore is a 375H&H. I do have some field experience with the 375 as I've taken about 30 critters with it, including an elephant (on video). Traded into a Husqvarna 98 barreled action in 9.3x62. Put it into a Hogue overmolded stock with a full bedding block. This is the second one of these stocks I've owned and I like it because of the purchase/feel and stability it provides. Today I made my second trip to the range with it. The only ammo I have fired is factory Sellier & Bellot. The scope is a Vari-X III in 1.75x6 Certainly not conducive to bench rest shooting but what I consider a good field scope for a mid-range hunting rifle. So far I have sighted the rifle in, shot one 3-shot group to see what it would do with this ammo ( inch 3/4"), and done some off-the-bench shooting with it. My impression so far is favorable. This rifle is around 9 pounds complete. As expected the recoil is slower than a similar weight 375 H&H. With a 285 grain bullet it is similar to a 338 Win Mag. Seems like a .35 Whelen (slightly) Improved. I will take it with me to Africa this year and shoot everything over 200 pounds with it...gemsbok, eland, kudu, etc.

I feel the 9.3x62 is a very nicely balanced round. Currently I have only stuffed around around with the 270 gr speer. I would like to muck about with the 320gr woodleigh's one day because I reckon they will look good loaded up ![]()

Matt, I think you should abandon this project and fob the thing off on me for 10 cents on the dollar of it's value. Everyone knows I'm an easy mark. ![]() This will save your valuable time for other pursuits and give me something to tinker with in my dotage. Regards - Jim
