Ever seen one of these double-bolt rifles in flesh? How do they fare? Are they reliable?

Not looking to buy because I'm not about to sell my kidney. Just curious

I've played with 2 or 3 Fuchs, no not practical, very large, very bulky, quite complicated, from what I remember really heavy. But for the guys that like weird stuff I guess it fills the niche.

Guy always brings one to a Oaks gun show in Philly.

That must be a real pain to regulate as the barrels are screwed into the action or locked in. It must be tricky to take them off and get them back in the exact same position again.

In break open DRs the barrels are mono blocked or lump welded and the hinge pin to hook mating does not change.

Both are interesting from an engineering aspect but I wouldn't buy either version.

What an interesting statement – in this case obviously not well researched.
The concept was developed in Canada by a gentleman named Joseph Szecsei, born in Hungary who emigrated 1951 into Canada!

The full story can be found also in the 49th Edition of Gun Digest in 1995.
I meet him on an IWA gun show in the mid 1990th in Nuremberg Germany. At that show he even had a .700 caliber rifle of his design for display. If I remember correctly, the case was based on reformed .50BMG cases (with a belt).
He teamed up in 1999 with Gerhard Fuchs, an Austrian gun maker, who is now building the rifles.

I have handled one. My friend Neal had one. He sold it.

It weighed 8 or 9 pounds being made of some light weight super material; titanium receiver I think.

I took it more of an exercise in Germanic engineering than anything else. I did not shoot it. It fires/feeds from a detachable box magazine. The company that brought the design to market is Austrian. Fuchs has an over under double bolt action now. Fuchs has many double bolt action models now. The newest catalog shows double triggers on most models.

The story was the designer was charged by a bunch of cow elephants, and this was the result of that experience.

For a little less money. I think Blazer made a few double barreled Blazer bolt action rifles, or at least I have seen pics of one.
