Just checked with CZ...the field grade stock can be purchased for $290, the laminate for $300...now if I compare that to the MSRP of e.g. the .458 Lott (american safari magnum) with a field grade ($876) and the laminate stock ($1118) something seems amiss here. Unless for reasons beyond me, attaching a barreled action to a laminate stock costs a few hundred $$ more than attaching it to wood. What am I missing here? Frans | ||

You aren't missing anything, and we thank you for your research. The take home message, IMAO, is to find a used 458 Win Mag, extend the chamber .3", and slap a new laminated stock on it. Voila, a 458 Lott at a popular price. And you thought the Czechs were only good at inventing Pilsner beer. A few of them must have gotten good grades in their marketing class; ie, bring in good rifles at a low price point, get some buzz going, creep the price up, and then reposition as a semi-premium brand.
