On my Montana 1999 actions have swap barrels ranging from 458 Lott and 470 Capstick on the big bore side down to 264 Win Mag on the small bore size. On my Sakos have a similar range of barrels. Also on my Savages, Remingtons, and Rugers. On my Weatherby Mark V have swap barrels on the 300 Wby case family. All the above can be done in the field without shop tools. As to the 378 Wby case family, these barrels require a barrel vise and are not so easy to swap in the field. Can keep a barrel vise mounted on the tailgate of the Land Cruiser, but that does require one to return to the hunting vehicle. Same problem with my 585 Nyati on a Granite Mountain Arms action. Need a vise to swap barrels. Anyone have ideas to make the bigger bores more friendly to barrel swaps in the field ? . | ||
