Here's some pics of a CZ550 in 505 Gibbs at the NRA Show. These are custom ordered (505, 450 Rigby & 404 Jeff), take about 2 months to get, cost $1750-$1850 depending on options, contact Jason Morton, CZ USA, 913-321-1811 or info@safariclassics.com if you want one. (Jason asked me to say hello to Les Howell, said your 404 will be shipped in a couple days.): NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

I was hoping they would make the big bores on the Montana Rifle PH action. Too Bad! square shooter

I think they call their rifles made on the Montana actions the Model 3. They looked very nice to me, wouldn't mind having one. Perhaps when Montana brings out its PH model CZ will use it for some of their big boomers. Some additional notes on the CZ550 big bores: the recoil cross bolts have been eliminated, a recoil lug added to the barrel and the thickness of the stocks beefed up. I thought the inletting left alot to be desired on the ones on display. I'd certainly glass bed if I had one to prevent splitting under recoil and to fill the gaps between the wood and metal for appearance sake. They'll sell you just the barreled action if you want to stock yourself but only for about $100 less. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. André, That's probably a non-firing display model. George

fla3006, Buy a buy a donkey, so kind of you for sharing the pics. With Jamison brass built like the .408 CheyTac, suitable for hotrodding, some CZ "custom" stocks will soon be split. Wonder if they at least glass bedded the thing for $1850? We shall soon see! Definitely needs a crossbolt fore and aft of the magazine well. The front sight is spiffed up and a barrel band for sling is added, the chambering is new, wood slightly prettier, but otherwise they are no different than the $750 CZ American Safari in any significant way. Looking at the bedding, boltface, and magazine box and rails will be most interesting. Then it needs to be rebarreled to .510/.505 Gibbs and turned into a baby BMG.

I would like to see whatt hey have done with the bolt seeing as the Gibbs rim is .640" would it be really thin like on my custom .585 Nyati which uses the same rim as the gibbs round ?? I do feel that cz should have built there guns in .500 Jeffrey seeing as they have them now built in .404.

RIP, Perhaps the CZ 505s have cross bolts but are not exposed, same as Wby Mark Vs. Mike

Hey keith. Sorry I dissapeared Friday; things got a little strange at the office plus I missplaced my cell phone. Apologies for not calling back. On the 505, I am betting that they must outsource the barrel and sights which drives their cost of production up considerably. Also, it looks like some extra cuts on the receiver port that are probably on a manual machine or at least another set up. The price is about right if they have to deviate from standard mass production means. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I just want an up close pic of the bolt face and metal left just to see how they handled that big rim.......................most of the work is done for a rebarrel to .585 Nyati
