ALF, Thanks again for your explanation. I have shot full stocked Mannlichers in India (old guns, of course) but have no idea what goes into making them accurate. Your explanation has definitely helped understand how much hard work goes into making accurate rifles shoot. Thanks as always for your very informative posts and the pictures of beautiful rifles that you put up here from time to time. Good hunting!

Robert, You are one fortunate man to own such a beautiful rifle! It was after reading another post here that I remembered Harry Baelder's name from an old issue of Gun Digest which I have since located after a lot of searching through my old books and archives. I am particularly intrigued by the slide-on type rear sight in one of the pictures which covers the "V" notch rear sight completely. Is this for any special reason? How does one manage to aim accurately with it? I hope that my questions don't bore or irritate you - I am a learner and this sight is something really new. I have never even read about it before. Good hunting!
