While having my CZ disassembled in preparation for glass bedding we noticed on the front end of the magazine you could see where rounds 1,2,and 3 in the magazine had "punched out" the front of the magazine box. The "dents" are not massive; however, I bought the rifle used (60 rounds per the prior owner) and I personally have single fed the rifle another 40 rounds; so I thought the dents were pretty noticable for being so early in the rifles "life". We are planning to "peen" the dents relatively close to flat again while carefully avoiding changing the magazine box's overall shape. Now comes the question: Would you reinforce the magazine box front end with an additional strip of steel (Jack Lott) or would you count on the glassbedding being up against it to help it take future "punishment"? I think the Jack Lott method with a strip of metal in place with your glass bedding will do the job. My hunting partner's dad had an original 505 Gibbs that dimpled his magazine box and asked Jack Lott at an SCI banquet about it. The man took it upon himself to fix the problem and took the rifle with him and fixed the problem. You don't get that kind of help nowadays from knowledgeable shooters who are generally really too busy to bother with minor details.

Find a piece of teflon about 1/8 inch thick and shape it so it fits the front of the mag box. Drill the front of the mag and using some short sheet metal srews, attach the teflon plate in place along with some epoxy. This will work beautifully. Yes you can weld a metal plate onto the CZ magbox also but be carefull to not burn through the sheet metal.-Rob
