Here's my new(old) mauser 10,75x68.

I hope you know some of the markings on the rifle and the barrel. the rifle is made in Gewehrfabrik Danzig.

on the barrel the markings are: BS 10,45.10,75.42 M

and the number 8749, B(crown) U(crown).

What are the numbers?

I hope you can help me!

Thanks ALF!

What does BS stands for?

I don't have any experience with Hawk bullets? Are they bonded? Are they any good for moose? I think I will use my Woodleigh 347 grains SN for hunting.

I have used 2 different Hawk bullets. The 285gr 9,3 with the .035jkt on deer, impala, baboon, and wild pigs. The only ones I have recovered have been from wild pigs. The bullets expand into a very big mushroom with a fair amount of shank left.
I have also used the 300gr Hawk with the .025jkt. in my 450/400 3 1/4" double rifle on deer and pigs. The velocity is 2330fps. These bullets have also performed excellent. I have recovered one from a frontal shot on a deer and a few from broadside shots on wild pigs. These bullets make a very big mushroom with almost no shank left, if fact some have totally coined out. This is great performance for smaller big game. However I would not use the .025jkt bullets on anything bigger. I have some 400grain .035jkt Hawks for the 450/400 but I have not shot any game with them yet. They may get a try on a black bear in Idaho this Sept, but I would like to shoot a pig or two with them first.
The Hawk bullets are not bonded.
On game as big as a moose I would recommend the Woodleigh Soft. I have used them with excellent results in the 9,3 the 450/400 and in my 450 No2.
I use the Hawks to get large expansion and thus fast kills on smaller big game with the big rifles. But on bigger game I much prefer the Woodleighs.
Hope this helps.

In my .318 I have used the Hawk's to fireform the cases have only taken pig with Woodleigh's. However, my experience tends to confirm the above report. This week I will fireform another 80 cases then load up the 250 gr. Woodleighs for this August's safari where I expect to take game as large as zebra and gemsbok, both known for their resilience and then load up about 20 200 gr. Hawk for next year's black bear and whitetail hunts . . . assuming that I don't just build up a 7x57 instead! The Woodleighs leave an awesome exit hole.

BS on the barrel could stand for Bohler-Stahl, although the name is usually written out, sometimes underneath.

"Bohren Spezifizierung" = German for "Bore Specification" = BS
