While looking through the current issue of SCI's magazine (AKA The Fat People Issue), I saw that the Kimber Caprivi is now offered in 458 Lott as well as 375. Did anyone see one in Dallas?

Yes, they had one in the Kimber booth. Looked nice. Handled, to me, just like the .375 Caprivi. Did not seem to be noticably heavier than the .375 either. All in all, I thought it was a nice looking rifle. Mike

Yes it was a nice looking rifle. I might have to make room in my safe for anouther Lott. I was looking at a new Caprivi 375 at Cabelas today and the checkering was AWEFUL. It was very fuzzy and had some real flat spots. If almost looked like it had tons of lint in the checkering and the flat spots looked like it had been whacked with a bat. This rifle never should have left the factory. Besides that I'm not a big fan of the stock at the ejection port. It doesn't have that angled portion and looks unfinished to me.

Who says the rifle left the factory in that shape? The gorillas who play with the guns on the shelf (even when behind glass and have to be taken out)do a bit of damage themselves. _BAxter

Flat spots, yes. Fuzzy checkering, I doubt it.

I really liked the caprivi, the rifle felt solid and well put together, I really wish they would do some in standard magnums and I would dearly love to see one in 30-06, I would buy one in 375 and one in 30-06 for a great medium and light 2 gun african battery. j LostHorizonsOutfitters.com ---------------------------- "You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas" Davy Crockett 1835 ----------------------------

In Dallas Kimber also had a new model 8400 called Talkeetna. Stainless barrel and action with synthetic stock, offered in .375 H&H. I thought it was nice looking, but I do not like the plastic feel of the Kimber synthetic stocks.

I saw one in Dallas and really liked it. It holds 4 down and a 5th can be chambered; I was very surprised by this because it looked like 3 down would be a stretch. I had my dealer order one today and Kimber told him they were expecting to ship mid-year. Edit for clarity: I ordered the 458 Lott. ____________________________________________ "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. I'd like to know more about that Talkeetna model.
