This sight for Weaver bases will fit onto the CZ integral base. The only problem is the lack of a recoil slot for the recoil stop on the bottom of the peep to fit in. I think that a little bit of modification could make this work directly on the CZ base without having to screw a Weaver base onto the top of the CZ. One could then have a QD peep and still use the CZ fitted rings of whatever make. Of course a fold down rear sight or no rear sight on the barrel would be in order then.

I have a couple of rebarreled CZ's that this would work on.

I still have to say that the CZ gets my vote for best bargain out of the box, in .416 Rigby.

Funny how you can buy the complete rifle for about as much as Brownells or AHR charges for the action alone.

It would be nice if NECG would make a peep to go directly on the CZ base without me having to do any experimenting. It could be very similar to the Weaver style above.

I spoke with ashley (whatever their name is today) about this.. they say to take the RUGER backup sight, and d/t the rec of the cz 550, and POOF! there it is.
So, I ordered rihcard one.. gave to him.. and haven't heard a peep (pun intended)

The NECG PN is Code: N-100 for their ruger version....

Jeffe,
O.K., I'll try that one too. I will have to get my gunsmith involved in that. I have one of the Ruger Peeps by NECG too.

Cheers!

I don't know if this is pertinent because I never wanted a scope on my Brno, but I had my smith dovetail the Tally rear peep into the rear bridge of my Rigby and it works like a charm. The only drawback is that you don't get any adjustment for elevation other than changing front beads but I have no complaints, overall

Oldsarge,
I will add it to the list of peeps to try.

If anyone can come up with a picture of the Talley peep to post here, it would be appreciated.

Here is the NECG Ruger peep. It is not as pretty as the NECG Weaver peep:

DaggaRon,

I'll be calling NECG tomorrow to find out about fitting one of their night sights into the CZ front sight dovetail. I'll mention to them that I'd like to see a peep that fits the CZ. Maybe if enough of us call and express interest they'll make 'em.

Best,
Joe

nextjoe,
Good idea. I'll look up their number and give them a call too. It will be easy to machine one of the existing ones onto the the CZ, but it would be really easy for them to make one that would lock into the recoil stop on the CZ rear base too.

Just soldering a small tab onto the front, left side of the Weaver style would provide the recoil stop. Or, extending the "pegs" on the bottom of the NECG Weaver peep and machining a slot for them to fit into on the CZ square bridge (more difficult).

The NECG Ruger peep also can be done by a little metalsmithing on the CZ square bridge.

The Weaver style NECG has more sex appeal and a bigger knob for easier QD. The Ruger NECG is a bit more compact and works better with a screwdriver instead of finger tightening.

Maybe NECG could come up with something even sweeter?

If you want to use the Ashley Ruger sight AND scope your rifle, make sure the sight doesnt sit so far forward that it keeps you from mounting the rear ring.

I wanted a non-folding peep permanently stuck to a CRF rifle. I also wanted to scope it to shoot at night, which is legal where I plan to do it. I had a smith put an Ashley M-700 Weaver base with a built-in peep on my CZ-550 American. He also put a Leupold M-700 rear base on the receiver ring and a PMS ramp on the barrel. Now I have great iron sights and my rings return to zero.

Unfortunately, the scope rides higher than I like, and the setup is ugly. I wish Ashley would make a sight/base set for this action, or that AHR would offer this mod, or that CZ would switch to Weaver-Picatinny rail and a peep. In spite of these problems, I plan to build a 308 or 30-06 to match this rifle as soon as my finances recover.

Hope this helps, Okie John.

NECG said they are looking at bringing out one for the CZ 550, but they do not have one as yet.

Hi Ron,
What I did on my new 470 is put a quarter rib on and mount the peep on the quarter rib just ahead of the scope. I can put a 1.5 to 5 Leupold scope on and the peep is made by Ashley for the Ruger model 77 Mk11. The apature is very large but pretty much perfect for this application. I'll post some pictures when I get it all back. The stock is being checkered at the moment and the metal work blued.
Take care,
470 Mbogo

Hey Dave,
I am still working on my 470 Mbogo stock too. Mine is not as classy as yours, but it suits me and is a laminate with full endoskeleton of steel bolts ... a McMillan would suit me fine too. I'll post a picture one of these days.

Cheers!
