Hey guys what do you think about this rifle? I am left handed, but i want to eventually hunt africa and alaska and dont want a single shot. I also would like a left handed bolt that is CRF. I like the looks of the rifle, and the .375 H&H cartridge. It seems like a much cheaper alternative then rebarreling and turning a Ruger 77mk2 LR into a .375 or .404 Jeff. For a scope i would probably put a Leupold VX1 2-7x33 on top. Really like that scope. Have one on my '06. WHat about a sling? Thanks ahead of time.

the righty is a great gun..

you can think about that, or a 300rum, rebarreled to 404

I agree with everything except your choice of scope. Scale it back to a 1.5x5 or thereabouts. The longest shot I ever took in Africa was around 125 yards and that was across cattle pens where the jess had been cleared away. Ranges tend to be short over there unless you're planning on your first safari being a desert hunt in Namibia or a big-bucks buster into the Ethopian highlands. Honestly, the only reason, IMO, for even having a scope in Africa is that most of us are more used to shooting with one than we are with irons. I'm an exception having put entirely too many rounds down range with that stupid black mouse gun the Army continues to favor. Otherwise, get the M70 LH in the only caliber that really counts, steel glass bed it and have it thoroughly tuned up by a good smith and go out an buy a pith helmet.

Would i be better off with an RSM? THe ruger express fits me like a glove. I was shocked how well it felt in my hands. Is the stock of the RSM the same as that of the express? It costs about the same, if not a little less, i do really like rugers. I would stick with the same caliber though.

NH; On the LH M70 SE:

Nice rifle I have one, only Fac. LH CRF in 375H&H avail.
Shoots great, however: when I got mine both front and rear sight's fell off, floorplate (not steel) stuck out below stock +/- .1" needed more inletting ,recoil pad bigger then the stock.
Stock feels good but big and worse on a DGR rifle one can not line up the open sights because of the neg.drop in stock.
I use a peep sight that mounts on the Leupold QRW base for the rear and a ramp soldered on top of a Lyman insert front sight.
So all in all nothing that can't be fixed but.....

Regards Martin

KK Alaska,
I have one and really like it. QRW's holding a Ziess 4X. I tagged a 148 score whitetail last fall at 353yds so IMO they are accurate.
Not to walk on anyones toes, but if NH Hunter doesn't want it, send me a PM with your price. I'm wanting one for a .450 Ackley project to replace my Remington based rifle. Remington...I have now owned my first and last!!!
Thanks, Ghost
