I bought a Remington 375 H&H a few months back because it was the right price.

I didn't like the composite stock on the rifle and ended up buying a nice laminated stock on-line.

I had my gunsmith, Kevin Weaver, bed the action and put a 1" Pachmeyer recoil pad on it with the length of pull back at 13.5".

I loaded up some rounds for practice and to get the gun on paper and close. My practice load consisted of 300 gr Hornady RN Interlocks, 52.3 gr IMR 4064, and a Fed 215 primer set at the recommended OAL. I topped the rifle with a Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 in Luepold QD rings and bases.

Well, here is what I ended up with. The first shot was off paper about 8 inches to the left and 8 inches low (not shown). I moved the scope up and the right both 6 inches, which is the lowest shot on the lower left (2nd shot). I moved the scope up 1.5 inches, which is the shot directly above the previous (3rd shot). For the 4th shot, I moved the the scope to the right 1.5", which was one of the shots on the black line just above the "10". My buddy Snellstrom shot next which is the shot to the upper right. I followed up with two more shots to compelete the 3 shots in the middle about 3/4" high.

Not too shabby for only having 7 shots down the tube and already a 0.340" MOA group at 100 yards. I might like this rifle!!!

Congratulations on your new "Favorite" rifle. tu2 The .375 H&H is still a damn fine cartridge regardless of the new wonder kids on the market.

I am constantly amazed at how well 375s shoot.

Far too much discussion on the forum on whether the 375 is not enough or just right for the big five -- forgetting that it's a very accurate cartridge .And one that most shooters can handle !

The old 375 H&H is my all time favorite cartridge. As a kid, I thought the 375 could stop the charge for a runaway cement truck!

Great choice!! You can hunt anything from ground squirrel to elephant!

Lyman Reloading manuals suggest that IMR 4064 was used as factory powder in the 375 H&H.
Remember, this powder was available for the pre World War II loadings.
Since that time, there have been advances in smokeless powder.
Also, think of the Barrel Break-In Programs detailed on the web pages of most custom barrel makers.
Seven fast ones out of a barrel is not a suggestion by any of these custom makers.
Sincerely,

Don't worry. After every shot, the gun was cleaned. I'm well aware of barrel break-in.
