Big Al, It is "Norbert" who is alluding to a soon to be released .750. I have no other information but knowing Norbert it is no joke. Regards ... Nick [This message has been edited by Nickudu (edited 05-05-2001).]

What barrel would he use? The closest thing I know of is 20mm, which is .820". What case would he use? Nitro Express at least implies a rimmed, straight wall case. AFAIK, the .700 is the biggest case like this available. There are a few large rimless cases out there. The BMG seems too small. With a head dia. of .795" it would offer no shoulder. The Russian equivalent has a head dia. of .856", which also seems on the small side for a .750" bullet. The Russian 14.5x114 has a head dia. of 1.059". That could support a .750" bullet, but the neck would be fairly thin. It's entirely possible that there are some other cases I don't know about. It's also entirely possible that this is a practical joke and I take things way too seriously

It is a little bit curious to me to start this discussion only typing .750, not NE, in a recent post. I would like to keep it closed, but for now some details. It is a pure experimental cartridge, not for hunting, but playing around with some physical parameters. It is not suitable for the average wildcatter because there are no parent calibers / barrels. I have to open a smaller diameter barrel. We call it "aufziehen". It is easily done by some gunsmiths of the old school here. Action is a single shot. I run into this project detecting a source of rimmed cases in eastern europe. ------------------
