Does anyone know if there are any manufacturers, anywhere, who are making Bore or Paradox style guns these days?

Trying to track down an original piece is getting harder and harder and so I am wondering if there are any alternatives out there (although I strongly suspect that the answer is no.)

thanks,

October Country makes bore rifles - these are muzzleloaders.

Finding old ones isn't so tough but affording them is another matter. I have an 18 bore double rifle (Lang) which I rather like.

There was an auction in the last month where a 12-bore paradox was up for sale in Sydney. Did you try for it?

Got a W.W. Greener 6 Bore double for sale ( Cartridge), A Hollis and Son 6 Bore single (Muzzel loader) and a fellow tells me he is bringing in a double 8 bore cartridge gun. Owner of the greener wants serious money though.

BwanaBob,

If you're looking at a phenomenally expensive choice, Holland and Holland are planning to reintroduce Paradox style guns especially because of the demand in the US market.

I also know from a conversation some months ago with Ernie Stallman, owner of Badger Barrels that he has made some to experiment with though I have no idea whether he offers them on a production basis. Some of the Australian members here introduced him to H&H executives on an Australian BGRC shoot and H&H sent him a gift later to thank him for sharing information on his experiments on a modern Paradox.

You could e-mail him at sales@badgerbarrelsinc.com and find out more from him. He is a really nice man to talk to and it would be well worth a mail or phone call.

Best wishes and good hunting!

John,

No I didn't see the Auction for the Paradox - I wonder what money it sold for.

Ganyana,

How much is "serious money" for the 6 bore and what sort of condition is it in? I have purchased a rifle in Harare before (a BRNO Model 21) and used my ladyfriend's licence for the purpose (she lives in Avondale). So, depending upon price, I could be very interested.

Mehul Kamdar,

Thanks for the info but I suspect that the Holland and Hollands will be well outside my budget. However, when they re-introduce the Paradox, maybe some other manufacturers will follow suit with more affordable models.

Somewhere around here I have the address of a 'smith who can convert certain thick barreled shotguns to Paradox guns. Should I find it, hopefully filed where it belongs, I'll post it.

I kind of like this drilling that Morris Hallowell has for sale. 12 gauge paradox barrels over a 9.3X70 rifle for $4,250. I'm sure the export problems would be a pain.

I could have sworn I had a link to a company that would make a side-by-side shotgun with rifled barrels, but I can't track it down. If I find it I will post it as well.

Bob

This was the reference I referred to.The auction was the 12th of September. Maybe give them a call to see if you can find out the price it went for.

Check out that thread as well if you want.

Bob, Fabarm and Beretta both make Paradox shotguns, with the Fabarm, you have a choice of SxS or O/U, with Beretta, it's O/U only.
Neither of them are as nice as an original H&H or WR, but then, they are a whole lot less expensive too!
I have been using a Fabarm for a few years now, the rifled BBL delivers patterns of slightly less than Cyl, while the other BBL has multichokes. Great little gun for those days when you know it will be mostly birds or rabbits, but you might see a deer or pig.

Cheers, Dave.
