Seven and a half pounds is fine I suppose if you like HEAVY guns Wink, but mine is a trim 6.6. 16.5" and launches .510" 525s at 1865fps with all of the recoil you'd want. This is my load testing butt stock and I'm still fittng the front sight. I have to admit wild west's trigger is worth all of the money, and that is the only good thing I'll say about them. I haven't killed anything with it yet, but use it as a camp/fishing gun. I'd love to see what it would do on a buff!

Cheers,
Bob

Hey Bob
Well, my 71s are in fact 7.5 lbs, and heavy. But my Marlin Guides with 18 inch tubes are 7, also heavy. I have a 50 AK too--Not from WWG from SSK, it comes in at 6.5 even. It's stainless like yours. I have to take some photos of that. It's a nice gun, works too, although it is neglected. I think sometime PM and have a short discussion about WWG.

That looks like the Cast Performance 525? I think we must test that bullet at velocity, I don't recall doing so, since I never took the 50 AK out, I really neglected load data on 50 AK too. About the time I did a couple of 50 AKs, I also had the 50 B&M AK .500 in the works and neglected the .510 afterwards and devoted most of my data to the .500. However, even then once I got the 500 Hornady up and running I neglected the .500 too. I have had too many cartridges and things I put in front of my lever guns. Sad to say, I have yet to take my .500 lever guns to the field yet! Shame! I am still backed up with other projects too.

Same bullets I'm using in my .50 AK, but mine gets only 1,575 fps.......oh, and I use the same bullet in my .500 Linebaugh. We could test it at a variety of speeds.

You saying you might have some of those 475 barnes lying about????

Wow, if that's what I understand, that would be fantastic! I would love just to see a few. Perfect for the 475 B&Ms!

Thanks
Michael

Mike,
I'll check with the rifle's owner and see if he has any of the Barnes bullets he would part with.

Dave, I also have a 45/70....in a Wild West that is Parkerized and has all the options except the take-down feature. But with an 18 1/2" barrel, it is already pretty much "taken-down" !!!! Can you say Garrett Hammerheads???

I'm sure that he will tell the story of the hunt himself but to address the second part of your question, I am dragging him kicking and screaming hammering to visit Kebco and his litter of 577s. beer
