Hey guys,

I have a Remington 700 Classic 375 H&H that I'm thinking about selling. Can you please give me some ideas what it is worth? Thank you.

My Dad just bought one at a gun show for $500.00 It was in 98% condition and seemed like a fair price. Hope it helps.

Thanks Kahluaman. No wonder I got no bites at $695. I would let it go for $500, I guess, to finance my next rifle buy, which is a 700 classic 35 Whelen.

Now, lets go make somw white Russians, Kahluaman. [Smile]

For a Mauser guy, it does not worth anything but for new big bore shooter, it may worth about $450. For your next rifle purchase, why not get something that has a better resale value. A Winchester Model 70 maybe? Good luck.

You may also consider the cz 550 in 9.3x62 it just shades the whelen in power slightly.

It is a wonderful round, and the rifle represents good value and it's CRF [Wink]

Yes, I got yor PM Smokey, and sent you a reply.

Mingbogo, I would love to have a model 70 in 35 Whelen. Have you seen one lately?

PC, earlier this year I bought a new CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62. It does indeed appear to be an excellent round. But I had some issues with the rifle that I just could not overcome, so I sold it. It's new owner is happy with it. It was a beautiful thing with a full-length stock that had fiddleback from buttplate to forend cap. But the quasi-Mauser action was just too sloppy and it wanted to bind badly in the rearward position. The spring-loaded ejector that rode against the bolt didn't help matters any. Then there's the scope mounts. The CZ-made rings are heavy, and Talley wants over $100 for their precious rings.

The Remington 700 Classic, for all the bad press it gets here and elsewhere, has a very smooth action and shoots very well. I understand the Mauser thing and I appreciate tradition as well as the next guy, including CRF. But I'm spoiled on rifles that work smoothly and rifles where the bolt doesn't slop around enough to ding the stock. My 6-pound Weatherby Sporter 30-06 is an awesome rifle because it is so smoooth and slick and light and accurate. The only thing I would improve on with the Weatherby is the trigger. The binding problem is the only reason I don't own one of those sweet little Kimber 84M rifles in 308 Win caliber.

Brand me a heretic if you must. But when my right hand tells the bolt to go forward, the thing better darn well go forward without me having to jiggle and wobble it out of a bind, and it better do so without too much effort. My 1903A3 Springfield is a smooth action. That bolt is sloppy too but it rides very smooth and does not bind. The Springfield has a fixed ejector that does not press and ride against the bolt.

So, if you want a smooth, good-shooting 375, I've got one I'll sell ya', and it's a Remington 700 Classic.

Live well
