Along the lines of a H&R Topper, thankfully no, but single 8 bore rifles and shotguns were once quite common, and the shotguns in particular can be found reasonably priced with some searching.

The big down side is that "larger than 10 gauge" shotguns are illegal for migratory waterfowl, and many states have added laws prohibiting them for use on ANY game, such as, sadly, AK.

Rifles and paradoxes are legal in every state to my knowledge, expensive to buy, but actually cheap to shoot. And a 1200gn hardened conical at 1300-1350 fps is not a "short range deer" round by any means! If you find one I guarentee you be hooked!
