BTW, the ball-loaded dummy shown in this picture can be single shot loaded off the top of a CZ magazine, CRF-style. The loaded cartridge will eject CRF&Extraction-style too, if decision is made not to fire it. No problemo. The 500 A-Square always had about 0.2" of spare box length when loaded with the Smurf bullet shown. It will be no problem to have a 3.000" case, with the 500 Mbogo, still room to spare. The 470 Mbogo 500-grain Smurf bullet is longer in the nose section than the 50-cal 570-grain Smurf. 2.945" was, of course, appropriate for 470 Mbogo case length. Of course a banded or grooved or multi-cannelured bullet (many available now) will allow one to fully utilize box space in a 500-A2, as long as it feeds well when loaded to the longer COL: 3.750" instead of the 3.550" required with most single cannelured 50-cal bullets.

HI Ron, You've done a great job with the 500 Mbogo and the credit of the up and running cartridge is through your determination. I love reading your Water Buffalo reports and will be looking forward to the time you start to video the shots. I would love to see the impact difference between a 500 grain .475 bullet at 2150 and one at 2500 fps. When you have headstamped 500 Mbogo cartridges or brass I would love to have one. Keep up the good work. As you said it is all fun hobby stuff. Take good care, Dave

Thanks Dave, I certainly owe you. You sent a 470 Mbogo dummy to me before I got one of those built. I will send you a 500 Mbogo dummy. I shall call Peter at Qual Cart and get an estimate on arrival time of brass.
