Quote: Mine needed to be touched up a little. Slicked-up the rails, the edge of the chamber was knife sharpe, and the feed ramp was rough. My gunsmith said he had all of 20 minutes into it. One thing, the .416Rigby is not a great killer? On what animals? A 400 grain .416" bullet at over 2000fps seems to work for me.

There was a small batch of .458 Lott's that had reports of feeding problems, and Ruger recalled them. Call Ruger's customer service, and let them know you have a Lott with feeding problems, and give them your serial number. They want to fix this problem for you, remember, they can't sell dangerous game rifles that have a reputation for feeding poorly.

DJ, That is the exact same issue my Ruger had, about 5 minutes with 320 grit emory clothe fixes it. You do not need to touch the rails, more than likely. What is the magazine box width on your Lott? I take it, that it is more narrow than your Rigby. The Rigby is too wide by the way. at least the ones made in the early 90's were. Truth is the 416 Rigby spends most of it's time in the safe. This rifle ain't accurate and the cartridge ain't a great killer, IMHO! ASS_CLOWN

My .375 RSM feeds like a champ, with spizers and roundnose loads. I've got no complaints about it at all.

DJ, Try Spitzers, I'll bet it will feed those fine. To get the round nose to feed you probably need only polish the feed ramp. The Ruger M77 MkII Magnum (RSM) is a control round feed rifle. It utilizes an investment cast receiver, which is not too aweful smooth on the inside (and not polished by the company). As at least one poster has pointed out, these rough internal walls can lead to some rough feeding. By the way, it is ONLY a $1600 rifle, which DOES NOT categorize it as "expensive" (the barrel would cost you more than that on a "custom" rifle). The one's I have personally worked with were much like any other Ruger rifle I have seen/used. They are functionally accurate meaning they will shoot 2 MOA consistently. Ruger's, at least in my experience, are not accurate. The unique bedding system is prone to barreled action movement, which can/will lead to bad grouping and shifting POI. In my opinion a M70 is a far better rifle, albeit too small for a Rigby sized case. Of course what the heck do I know, afterall I am an ASS_CLOWN (it isn't like I have shot these rifles a great deal or anything like that ). ASS_CLOWN
