I have a bell and carlson stock that I bought for a win mdl 70 30 06 and wanted to use it on my mdl 70 375 hh. I know i would have to modify it for the second recoil lug but was woundering if it would hold up,any thoughts? Greg

You shouldn't have any problems with a B&C stock on your .375. I have one on my .300H&H and it has been there for about 10 years now. It has not given me one bit of problems. When I was going to build my big bore I called them and talked to one of their technicians. He said there stocks will handle the .460 Weatherby.

I have B&C stocks on my .416 Rem Mag and my .500A2 and neither has given the slighest hint there will ever be a problem. I will use another when I need a stock without hesitation.

I know something about only three "synthetic" stocks. One is the B&C that I got from a buddy for $50. The material just behind the recoil lug on that Win SA stock was pourous with holes in it!

I tried it anyway and it was a miracle for my new Win 70 SS SA 7mm WSM with the rifle shooting oustanding groups. However the stock screws kept coming loose! I marked them with a pen and noted that they loosened. Over time they also tighted beyond the "tight" setting.

I guessed that the pourous material near the locking lug was collapsing. I called B&C and they said to send the stock back as it was an old model and they would send a new stock free! Then it came out that the gun was a magnum! All of a sudden the free stock was withdrawn and they wanted to sell me the one with the aluminum bedding block. I did not want such a heavy stock so they said that they had one with a reinforced recoil lug section. That cost me $65 and it's a nice stock but the forend barrel channel does not come close to supporting the barrel like the old B&C did. Thus this rifle will not shoot as well with out a shim in the forend.

In summary I would buy another B&C in a heartbeat. I am not sure where to get one at a discount however and I may want one for one of my M1999's while the custom stock is being made and as a rough weather stock as the custom walnut one is going to be expensive.

One was not the correct model for the rifle I had, and B&C exchanged it no questions asked. Great service.
