I am venturing into new territory, and would appreciate some help on what suggestions for a scope for a 458 lott. Need long eye relief obviously, but also scope tube long enough to fit on the long action. Many new scopes are just way too short.

I know, I know. Question has probably been asked before, but would appreciate feedback anyway. Not dead horse comments please.

1.5-5X Leupold is what I ahve on my 450 Dakota. So far it is unfazed, and my loads are probably 200fps
faster than what you will shoot.

I have no idea how old it is, but it's been on that gun for seven years now.

Leupold 1.5x - 5 VX3 on Weatherby 460 with lots of full tilt 500 Grain loads. Scope is fine but the targets didn't fair too well.

I have a Leupold VX II 3x9 on a .416 Weatherby and a custom .458 Win Mag. Both perform well.

Four the last four years and approximately 500 rounds, I used a 1x4 Varix-II Leupold scope. It was designated as a "shotgun" scope and was parallex adjusted at 75 yards. It functioned flawlessly during that time.

The older Leupold m8 2.5 power is great and will take a beating. I have 2 vxII 2-7 both on model 70 rifles one on a 458 wm and one on a 416 Rem, and have held up for several years with zero problem, leupold says max ring spacing is 5.2"

I think the Leupold 1.5x5 is the perfect scope for the application. It will fit magnum length actions without extension rings. I would also suggest Talley QD mounts.
