GS Custom bullets make a 640 grain FN solid bullet in caliber 577/585.

What velocity would be possible with this bullet in caliber 585 NYATI and in the 577 TYRANNOSAUR...?

They will also expand at high velocity. I think this is a good bullet for the 577 T-REX.

I think with the Nyatti 2500-2600fps would be feasible. I do not know about the T-Rex.

Overkill,

Tell me more about your 585 and 577. Who built your rifle? Can you take the recoil of a full blown load? What game are you planning to hunt with it? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks. Ming

Ming...!

I dont have any 577 or 585 yet. Just a .460 Wby

But I am going to have a rifle in caliber 577/585 or even a bigger gun. Like a .700 BMG IMPROVED

I am going to have it for fun [Big Grin] and for bear and moose hunting. [Wink]

Overkill.
I really don't know. But i get the impression of getting very high numbers with those bullets !
This will of course be a guess, so i think maybe 2800-2850+ fps with the 640 gr.bullets.Ulrik thought he could push the 750 GV custom bullet close to or 2750 fps. Remember his load with mono.Barnes 750 bullet ?He got 2715 fps and 191 gr. of VVN-550,,,,INSANE !!
Anyway i would'nt be surprised if the man gets 2900fps with the 640 gr.GV bullets ?! [Eek!]

Very very insane velocity a 640 grain bullet at maybe 2900 f/s [Eek!] 16200 joule and with the 750 grain bullet at 2750 f/s it will give 17100 Joule like 2 times .460 wby [Eek!] Do you know if the GV Custom bullet are expanding bullets [Confused]

I don't have a clue about the structure of those bullets,i'm sorry !
Well i have started thinking of a new big bore this summer.I think it will be a .460 Wby or a .475 A&M Magnum on a CZ-550 action. Some buddy offered me an used .458 win mag, but i will rebarrel it and have the stock modified to handle the recoil these beasts generates.(Maybe i go for the .500 A2).Another option is the .475 Rigby which has a capacity of 148,5 of water. This should be able to send those 500 gr. bullets to 2700 fps, think the .475A&M Magnum will do the same in a barrel of 26"and 1-12 twist.
The most interesting rifle is the .475 L.T.D.Just take a look at the subject !3000 fps with 500 grainers,,,WoooW !!
Maybe this rifle together with the .577 Tyrannosaurus rifle will be the new future option, i'll bet you've set at .577 Tyr,he,he !!
Overkill. You have to pay 3000 for the action, so i'll bet my rifle will cost something like 8000-8500 for a complete rifle in .577 Tyr here in Norway."My" gunsmith makes Oberndorf or Brevex actions for almost half the prize and quality is even better he claims. But then we get an action strong enough to handle the bolt thrust and pressure we're talking about sending 750 grainers to 2700 fps !!! Per577. 3000 "dollar" for a CZ-550 action [Eek!] Or what [Confused] Here in sweden i can buy a new CZ-550 action for 7000 swedish kr "kronor" it is around 700 dollar.

Were have you get info on the 475 L.T.D...? 500 grainers at 3000 f/s. 13563 joule. [Eek!] will hit hard. You have to use Swift sp bullets if you are going to have any weight left after expansion.

I am going to have a .577 TYRANNOSAUR some day.

Overkill. The .475 LTD cartridge is the early Nyati, a .577 NE mixed and fixed down to accepting 474 diameter bullets. I'm sure this cartridge will do what the .475 A&M Magnum was supposed to do, pushing 500 grainers over 3000 fps !Noway the .475 A&M will make this today loading reasonable !!!You can read about the subject at this site. Sight in the subject and be impressed !! [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
